May Small Groups

Hello!

I love this weather (minus some of the rain). I was just informed a few days ago that I was not picked to run the NYC marathon in November. I was a little bummed but will try again next year. They cap off how many can run and choose runners based on a lottery system. I will be running the Philadelphia marathon instead. I have begun my training and am off to a good start.

The family is doing well. The crazy cycle has begun with 3 of my kids now in sports. I am coaching my son Alex's 5 year old t-ball team. It is so fun to watch them learn the game of baseball. I cut my grass last week and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's therapy for me!

We do have small groups this month on the 1st Wednesday, May 4th at 7pm because of Vertical service will take place on Thursday, May 5th, which is our National Day of Prayer service.

I have two student spots open for our 2011 Mission Trip to Grand Rapids. If your son/daughter is interested, let me know ASAP. We will take students in 8th grade - 12th grade.

That's all for now. Have a GREAT week!!

December Update

Wow! It has been a while since I have last written. Let me catch you up on things around here. On October 10th, I completed my goal by running the LBI 18 mile race. I ran it in 2 hours and 48 minutes and finished in 379th place out of about 900 runners. I worked all summer on this and was delighted to complete this goal. However, it took me a few days to recover. I was exhausted at the end. Every part of my body was screaming! I was thankful that Shannon came down with me because she was able to drive me home. My plan is to maintain a 16-20 mile a week base this winter and begin training for a marathon (26 miles) to run next fall.

A few weeks ago, I came down with a nasty virus and it transitioned into Bronchial Pneumonia. I was out for 1 ½ weeks. It really wiped me out. My wife did everything including leading a birthday party for my 10 year old son Tyler. I am now healed and back in action!

I had some really cool speaking opportunities during the past month. I spoke at PBU (a youth ministry class at Philadelphia Biblical University) and the Hawthorne Gospel Ministry conference. I shared what God is doing in our Youth Ministry specifically in the area of small groups. We have 33 small group leaders and about 130 students that are connected to a small group on Wednesday nights! God is doing a great work here. I have been blessed with great Godly leaders who love the Lord and the students. I am so proud of them!!

On December 18th, the Senior High will be going on our annual Palisades Park Mall trip. We will be leaving at 3pm and returning around 10:30pm. There is no cost but students will need to sign up in the youth room so that we have an idea on how many are attending.

On Wednesday, December 22nd, we will be having a gift exchange during small group night. Have students bring a cheap, wrapped gift. We will have worship and some snacks too!

During the month of December, in youth group, we will be teaching on Jesus as a baby, as a child and as a youth and how he relates to us today.

That’s all for now.

See you on Sunday!

Upcoming Events

It's time to start planning our 2011 trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan!  Our planning meeting will be on Sunday, November 7 in the Youth Room at 12:30 PM.  Come out and support us as you always have!

You can still join small groups on Wednesday nights.  November dates are the 10th and the 17th.  There is NO group on the 24th due to Thanksgiving Eve Services.  We are memorizing Psalm 1 and Psalm 23 for the year.  We look forward to seeing you all there!
